Why Wallpaper Deserves a Specialist

More Than Sticking Paper to a Wall

Good wallpaper installation is a quiet kind of craft. Anyone can unroll a sheet and smooth it down, but the difference between a beautiful finished wall and a frustrating one shows up at the edges, at the seams, around outlets, and above the crown molding. Bubbles, misaligned patterns, and lifting corners almost always trace back to skipped prep work or rushed technique.

Our installers take the time to get every small detail right. We read your wallpaper’s pattern before we cut anything, match repeats carefully across every seam, and finish edges so cleanly that most people can’t tell where one strip ends and the next begins.

What makes Peacock’s wallpaper work different:

  • Real surface assessment before a single roll is opened
  • Correct primer choice for the wall type and the paper you’ve selected
  • Pattern matching planned across the entire room, not just one seam at a time
  • Clean cuts around outlets, switches, trim, and ceiling lines
  • Final inspection with you present to catch anything that needs attention
Every Pattern, Every Material

Wallpaper Types Our Crew Handles

Wallpaper has changed a lot in the last decade. Today’s options include everything from peel-and-stick prints to hand-printed traditional papers that cost hundreds of dollars per roll. Our installers have experience across the full range, so whatever you’ve chosen (or are still deciding on), we can advise on the installation and execute it properly.

Traditional Paper Wallpaper

Traditional Paper Wallpaper

Classic paste-applied wallpaper in every pattern style. Requires skilled handling because it expands when wet and needs careful pattern matching as it dries.

Vinyl and Vinyl-Coated Wallpaper

Vinyl and Vinyl-Coated Wallpaper

Durable, washable papers popular in kitchens, bathrooms, and high-traffic areas. Installation requires the right adhesive and proper seam sealing for a lasting finish.

Non-Woven Wallpaper

Non-Woven Wallpaper

A modern favorite that’s easier to install and remove later. We use the paste-the-wall technique for clean, bubble-free application.

Grasscloth and Natural Fiber Wallpaper

Grasscloth and Natural Fiber Wallpaper

Textured, organic materials that add warmth to a space. These papers require extra care during handling to avoid damage to the fibers and require paneling technique for color uniformity.

Peel-and-Stick Wallpaper

Peel-and-Stick Wallpaper

Popular for rentals and quick refreshes. Looks simple but still needs careful wall prep and precise alignment to avoid lifting and pattern misalignment.

Murals and Wide-Panel Wallpaper

Murals and Wide-Panel Wallpaper

Large-format designs that stretch across entire walls. Installation is unforgiving; every panel has to line up perfectly for the image to come together as intended.

Designer and Custom Wallpaper

Designer and Custom Wallpaper

High-end, hand-printed, or custom-ordered wallpaper that deserves an installer who treats each strip carefully. We’ve worked with dozens of premium brands and know how to protect your investment.

How We Install Wallpaper

The Peacock Wallpaper Process

Thoughtful prep. Skilled hands. Finished walls you’ll actually want to photograph.

1
On-Site Assessment

On-Site Assessment

Our estimator visits your space, measures every wall, examines the surface condition, and discusses your wallpaper selection. You receive a detailed written quote covering prep, materials, and installation.

2
Wall Preparation and Repairs

Wall Preparation and Repairs

We remove any existing wallpaper, patch damaged areas, sand the surface smooth, and clean it thoroughly. Skipping this step is the number one reason wallpaper installations fail later.

3
Priming the Surface

Priming the Surface

A wallpaper-specific primer gets applied to seal the wall, create a consistent surface, and make future removal easier. The primer type depends on your wall and the paper you’ve chosen.

4
Pattern Planning and Cutting

Pattern Planning and Cutting

Before a single strip goes up, we plan the pattern layout across the entire space. Repeats are matched, corners are calculated, and cuts are made with proper allowances to keep the design aligned.

5
Careful Installation

Each strip gets applied using the correct technique for your paper type. Seams are booked, smoothed, and rolled. Edges are trimmed cleanly around trim, outlets, and ceiling lines.

Where Wallpaper Works Best

Spaces Where a Wallpaper Accent Changes Everything

One of the most rewarding parts of our job is watching a wall go from plain to memorable. Wallpaper can anchor an entire room with a single feature wall, or it can wrap a full space in personality. Here are the rooms we install in most often across the Seattle area.
Entryways and Foyers

Entryways and Foyers

The first room guests see. A bold wallpaper here sets the tone for the whole home.

Powder Rooms and Half-Baths

Powder Rooms and Half-Baths

Small spaces where pattern and color really shine. Vinyl wallpapers hold up well to moisture.

Bedrooms and Accent Walls

Bedrooms and Accent Walls

Behind the headboard is a favorite spot. Calmer patterns bring warmth without overwhelming the room.

Dining Rooms

Dining Rooms

A classic choice for adding drama and character. Grasscloth and textured papers look especially beautiful under evening light.

Home Offices

Home Offices

Adds depth and focus to a room that often feels sterile. Great for video-call backgrounds too.

Nurseries and Kids' Rooms

Nurseries and Kids' Rooms

Playful patterns that grow with the child. We install removable options for easy future updates.

Commercial Spaces

Commercial Spaces

Offices, salons, restaurants, and retail interiors that want to make a design statement.

Stairwells and Hallways

Stairwells and Hallways

Often overlooked, but these vertical surfaces transform beautifully with the right paper.

Rescuing Botched Installations

Had a Wallpaper Job Go Wrong? We Can Fix It.

Some of our favorite calls come from homeowners who tried wallpaper themselves or hired someone who didn’t know what they were doing. Peeling corners, lifting seams, bubbles under the paper, and pattern mismatches can often be corrected without replacing the entire room.

Problems we regularly resolve:

  • Visible seams where strips don't meet cleanly
  • Bubbles and air pockets trapped under the paper
  • Peeling edges at ceilings, baseboards, or corners
  • Pattern misalignment across seams or around doorways
  • Wallpaper applied over poorly prepped walls that's now lifting
  • Damage from moisture, pets, or everyday wear
  • Old wallpaper that needs removing without damaging the underlying wall
If you're not sure whether your installation can be rescued or needs to start over, we'll give you an honest assessment during the on-site visit.

Out With the Old

We Also Handle
Wallpaper Removal

Removing old wallpaper is messier, slower, and more surface-damaging than most homeowners expect. Old paste, stubborn backing, gouged drywall, and hours of scraping are the usual rewards for trying it yourself.

Our team removes wallpaper the right way, using proper steamers, solvents, and scoring tools to protect your drywall underneath. Once the paper is off, we repair any damage, prime the surface, and prepare the wall for paint or new wallpaper, whichever direction you’re taking the space.

Wallpaper removal is included as part of any replacement installation, and also available as a standalone service.

What Wallpaper Installation Costs

How Wallpaper Pricing Actually Works

Wallpaper installation pricing varies more than most paint jobs because the paper itself plays such a big role. A simple accent wall with peel-and-stick paper is a different project than a dining room wrapped in hand-printed grasscloth. Our estimates account for the real variables, so you get an accurate number rather than a rough guess.

What shapes your wallpaper quote:

  • Square footage of the walls being papered
  • Type of wallpaper you've selected or plan to select
  • Condition of the existing walls, including removal of old wallpaper
  • Pattern complexity and repeat size (larger repeats need more paper)
  • Wall height, ceiling details, and access challenges
  • Prep and repair work needed before installation begins

An honest note on material costs:

The wallpaper itself is usually the largest line on your invoice. Premium papers can run $100 to $500+ per roll, while simple peel-and-stick options start much lower. We're happy to recommend vendors and estimate material quantities accurately so you're not over-ordering.

Wallpaper Questions, Answered

What Homeowners Ask Us About Wallpaper

You can absolutely supply your own. Most of our clients choose their wallpaper themselves, often from a designer or a specific brand they love. We’re happy to recommend vendors or help you calculate how much to order if you’d like the guidance.

A single accent wall usually takes half a day to a full day, including prep. A full powder room runs one to two days. Larger rooms or spaces with complex patterns can take two to four days, depending on scope and wall condition.

In most cases, no. Old wallpaper needs to come off first so the new paper can adhere properly and look clean at the seams. Installing over existing paper almost always leads to visible imperfections and premature failure.

That’s part of what we handle. Most walls need some level of patching, sanding, or priming before wallpaper can go up. Your estimate will include any repair work needed to get your walls ready.

Care depends on the paper type. Vinyl and washable papers can be wiped down with mild cleaners. Grasscloth and delicate papers need gentle dusting only. We provide specific care instructions for your paper at the end of the project.

Not when it’s installed with proper primer underneath. One of the reasons we prime every wall before installation is to make removal easier and protect the drywall for the future.

Yes. Our free at-home consultation includes guidance on scale, color, and pattern selection based on your room’s lighting and existing finishes. We can also help you visualize how a pattern will read across the full wall.

Yes. We handle wallpaper installation for offices, retail interiors, restaurants, salons, and other commercial properties. Scheduling is flexible around your business hours whenever possible.
